Conference Scholarship Application

Deadline: Postmarked by February 1

1. The Executive Board of OFLTA may choose to award up to $500 to an OFLTA member to assist the member to attend a national or regional conference sponsored by a professional language organization. In the event a recipient is unable to attend the conference, the grant money must be returned to OFLTA.

2. The applicant must be a current member of OFLTA and may apply during the third year of continuous membership or any subsequent consecutive year of membership thereafter. Recipients are ineligible to receive this scholarship for a period of three years following its receipt.  Currently serving members of the Executive Board are ineligible for this award.

3. The applicant must submit a detailed list of estimated expenses along with a description of the conference to be attended in order for the selection committee to make an intelligent judgment. The applicant must also request financial assistance from his or her school to attend the conference and proof of such request must be submitted to the OFLTA, along with this application. If the request to the school has been approved or denied, a copy of the approval or denial must be submitted, too.

4. Recipients are required to submit a written summary of their experience to the OFLTA Newsletter editor and must either present an oral report or a workshop session to the general membership at an OFLTA conference.

5. Applicants and the recipient will be notified by March 15.
